Oh my. I was given the 8 pieced dresden hearts around '94, pulled them out and did my first quilting applique and appliqued them to the white squares in '97. I couldn't figure out how to set 8--8 directional! blocks for the life of me, so put the blocks away with extra white fabric. In 2008 I had a death-wish (to complete a quilt for every family member for Christmas) so I trotted out all the UFOs and found this one. I determined that it was to be for my MIL and began agonizing again over setting and woke one morning with setting I used in mind. I laid it out and made sure I had enough setting fabric and started cutting! The green was from another UFO. I was able to complete the top by Christmas, and I showed her, but had to take it home to complete it. After Christmas I got busy again and set it aside, not sure how I was going to quilt it. My little Kenmore couldn't handle it and I couldn't afford to send it out. Then I was gifted a lovely Bernina that I could use for quilting, so I took the plunge. Now it's ready for her, I hope she likes it. The moral of the story---it's never too late to finish a quilt! love, PB
